New analysis from the Institute of the Motor Industry estimates that 90,000 automotive technicians will be required to provide sufficient workforce to service the volume of zero emissions vehicles predicted to be on UK roads by the government’s Road to Zero deadline.
With fewer young technicians entering the trade than there are retiring, accompanied by the escalation of new vehicle technology, the industry is experiencing a skills shortage.
