WMS Group, the business-to-business warranty company, has invested in Motor TradeBook, the social network designed solely for the motor trade.

Thousands of dealerships, manufacturers and automotive suppliers have registered on Motor TradeBook (MTB) since its launch in 2011. Key features of the site currently include road tests by top motoring journalists; stock listings; photo/video galleries; recruitment; the ability to share blogs and other documents to help improve search engine optimisation (SEO); live chat and integration with Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn.

The undisclosed sum invested by As part of the deal, WMS will allow Motor TradeBook to launch further new developments over the coming months, including an app and several functions which will improve the user’s experience across this free-to-use site.

Commenting on the move, Alex Wright, founder of Motor TradeBook, said: “The motor industry has only recently started using social media to communicate with their customers, and it is still gaining momentum – but the results of effective digital marketing can be enormous.

“Many members of MTB have already reported an impressive 50% increase in traffic to their sites, simply by using the platform to its fullest. MTB is fast becoming central to business’s customer care strategies, just as much as perhaps Facebook and Twitter already are. We are delighted to be working with the WMS Group – their generous investment is greatly appreciated, and will allow us to continue developing our range of marketing services further.”

Marketing manager of the WMS Group, Steph Colinswood, added: “By working in collaboration with MTB, we are able to support this free-to-use unique platform that is pipped to become the number one choice for social media in the motor trade.

“Many businesses are successfully using it to raise brand awareness, reach larger audiences and engage with their customers – and being able to link posts, photos, videos and blogs with other social networks means they can be distributed to several places at the click of a button.

“We are excited about being able to help MTB introduce new products down the line, and very much look forward to working with them over the coming years.”

To mark the deal, Motor TradeBook is offering a free service (usually £50) for all new members registering to the site between now and March. This includes:
• Setting up a unique page complete with the business’s contact details, social media accounts and links to stock on all 3rd party websites
• Bespoke URL incorporating the business name
• Uploading videos and photos of their business, products and services
• Uploading documents including but not limited to: car brochures, special offers, company news, events, invitations, presentations and Excel documents
• Optimisation of their blog posts and distribution to the MTB blog section which will improve web rankings through backlinks and SEO
• Connecting the account to other social networks and syndicating content to reach a broader customer base – businesses will also be able to see how many people have viewed the content as a direct result of Motor TradeBook
• Adding the MTB icon to the business’s website which will link back to their MTB profile
• Then finally hand over the username and password for businesses to take control of their accounts afterwards.
