Online car sales specialist Carwow intends to continue its daily auctions throughout the festive period, to help dealers source high-quality used stock and respond quickly to the anticipated seasonal increase in consumers researching their next car change.
The group’s auctions will be hosted daily from Monday to Saturday up to and including Monday 23rd December, and will restart on Friday 27th December, taking a one-day break on New Year’s Day and resuming on Thursday 2nd January.
The move follows a major upsurge in traffic last year – Carwow saw an increase by 34% from Christmas Day to Boxing Day, and then rapid acceleration to rapidly record traffic levels throughout the first quarter.
The online marketplace expects Christmas 2024 and quarter 1 2025 will follow suit, and is encouraging dealers to ensure their forecourts are well stocked and vehicles expertly merchandised through online channels where consumers are doing their car-changing research.
The online specialist is highlighting its vehicle collection, protection and delivery service ‘Carwow Collects’ which aims to make the changeover process stress-free for dealers and consumers alike, whilst also providing financial protection to dealers against unforeseen issues.
The Carwow support team will be working until close of business on Monday 23 December and opening again from Thursday 27 December. Urgent collections will also be possible between 28th and 31st December, with normal collections service resuming from 2nd January.
Carwow’s Commercial Director Daniel Boakes said that with dealers up and down the UK working between Christmas and New Year, the Group wants to ensure its dealers are supported with their stock sourcing needs throughout this period in readiness for increased consumer activity from Boxing Day.
“Our data shows that consumer activity accelerates rapidly from Boxing Day and continues throughout the first quarter of the year,” Books added.
“Much like planning New Year’s resolutions, many people use this time to consider changing their car – we see more people coming to Carwow in the period between Boxing Day and New Year to start researching their next new or used car and consider selling their current car via our daily auctions.”
