The first-of-its-kind 25,500 sq. m. sustainable car retail concept boasts six 150kW EV rapid chargers – capable of providing a 100-kilometre range to EV drivers in as little as six minutes. Open 24 hours a day, the new EV charging hub can power up to 480 cars in a single day, providing a significant boost to Middlesbrough’s EV charging infrastructure.
Egg will be Lookers’ exclusive supplier of EV charging equipment and services, including installation, service and maintenance on a variety of chargers through from fast 7 kWh AC units to rapid 150 kWh DC chargers.
‘&Charge’, accessed via app, allows users to collect EV charging credits when shopping at hundreds of UK retailers. Credits can be redeemed via the Kia Charge* app to pay for public charging sessions, reducing the total cost of ownership. Customers can also earn credits by providing information and feedback on public charging stations.
When it comes to EV adoption, there is a direct link between easy availability of charging and the overall likelihood that consumers will make the switch to electrification. These are decisions that tend to be made on a local basis. Motorists can see whether chargers in their area are around in large numbers and make an assessment about how easy it is likely to be to use an EV.
The partnership deal means that within 10 minutes of browsing, consumers can now choose the charge point best suited to their needs, connect with an installer and identify their best-value home energy tariff, helping them launch their electric journey.
From this month, Lookers’ customers will be able to securely access Zap-Map’s interactive software through its online channels, instantly enabling them to quickly pinpoint the locations of thousands of electric charging points across the UK for free.
The Electric Forecourt, near Braintree, Essex, can charge 24 electric vehicles at once with superchargers delivering up to 350kW of charging power allowing a 20-30 minute charge-up with faster times in the future as battery technologies mature.
