James Thomas, a Level 3 Bodywork Repair apprentice at Day’s Group, has been commended by Cardiff and Vale College for excellence.James has been working at Day’s Bodyshop in Garngoch for the past three years, having started his apprenticeship journey as an 18 year old.

Manager John Bowler, showed James around the bodyshop at the beginning of his apprenticeship and the new recruit quickly found his area.

Bodyshop by Manager John Bowler said, “I introduced James to the different aspects of the Bodyshop department and it seems that his interest was ignited from there. He decided he wanted to pursue panel beating and he really has excelled.”James has drawn on the experience of one team member in particular – a Day’s institution, Robert Pritchard.

John says, “Rob has been with the company for over 30 years. He is an excellent panel beater and has given James a very good grounding on which to build his panel beating career. The standard he is achieving is testament to the teacher he has had here at Day’s.”

James added, “I wanted to join the Day’s Bodyshop as I like to take pride in my work and I knew that in a place such as this, I wouldn’t be able to let any standards slip. The bodyshop here has a very good reputation and it’s something I was eager to be a part of.”

Nik Ions, James’ instructor from Cardiff and Vale College, said, “Without question, James is an outstanding young man who will continue to grow both personally and professionally. He is a shining example of the future of the automotive industry.”
