ALTHOUGH new cars sales dipped 20% in September, dealers reported strong used car sales during the month with an 11% increase on 2017.

The new figures from lead management experts at enquiryMAX examined data from over 700 dealers.

The data also showed the average sale price of a used car dropped from £22,159 in 2017 to £20,369 last September. The average value of a part exchange vehicle decreased from £10,582 to £9,790.

David Boyce Managing Director of enquiryMAX said: “It is clear that dealers are seeing a continued profit opportunity in used cars. It is important that all parts of a dealership work together to drive leads and support a seamless customer journey.

“Every lead has its potential and should be followed up to its conclusion.”

Leads from the internet continued to show strong growth with an increase of 15%. Telephone leads declined 4.3% and manufacturer leads edged up 3.8%.
