Select Car Leasing has hosted its annual charity football match, featuring the former Fulham player and Soccer AM presenter Jimmy Bullard.
The game raised over £1,000 for the Reading FC Community trust, which supports more than 3,500 people in the area a week – from vulnerable and disadvantaged young people, to people with dementia, as well as disabled people.
Last year, Select donated a minibus to the trust, supporting the ‘Reading Alternative Provision’ scheme, which supports children who struggle with the school environment.
Select Car Leasing has been Reading FC’s principal partner since 2021, and has donated thousands of pounds to support the trust’s school holiday camp programme.
Mark Tongue, CEO at Select Car Leasing, said: “We hold a charity football match each year, raising funds for a diverse range of charities, and we’re thrilled to be able to bolster our support of the Reading FC Community Trust with this year’s fixture.
“Without the Trust, the local community here in Reading would be a much poorer place.”
Bullard, who is an ambassador for Select, played the match alongside staff from Select, playing for 75 minutes before withdrawing due to a calf injury.
Bullard said: “I really enjoyed playing in the charity game – loved it. I was only supposed to play 20-25 minutes but I didn’t want to come off.”
