SEAT has added to its expanding SUV range with the launch of its flagship Tarraco seven-seater.
This is the first large SUV from the Spanish brand and it also hints at a new design language with a dynamic front end and new lighting signature.
Prices start at £28,335 rising to around £40,000 for top spec versions. There are four trim levels at launch with an FR Sport coming later.
Petrol engines are a 1.5 TSI 150hp manual and a 2.0 TSI 190hp while diesels are a 2.0 TDI 150hp and 2.0 TDI 190hp with all of them featuring direct injection turbocharging.
All models also come with even seats and boot capacity is 230 litres with the second and third row upright, 700 litres with the third row folded and 1,775 with second and third row down.
WITH an SUV market that continues to expand, SEAT sees its new Tarraco model strengthening the brand’s position in retail and fleet.
It tops out SEAT’s SUV range above the the Ateca and Arona which have been introduced over the past couple of years.
Richard Harrison, managing director of SEAT UK, said: “Tarraco neatly completes our SUV family and we are very optimistic about it being able to repeat the success of its smaller brother and sister.
“What it’s going to bring additionally is two further seats and extra space, opening us up to a new audience who currently aren’t coming into the SEAT brand.”
Harrison said that one of the brand’s key innovations has been its ‘easymove’ range line-up which has been well received by retail and fleet customers alike.
“We’ve simplified the way in which you buy a car. By having six easy trim levels with a specification our customers actually want, it;s easier for our sales teams to be able to demonstrate and show what’s available.”
He added that another key ingredient has been the development of the SEAT dealer network.
“We have had some terrific people who have joined us over the past few years and they have really helped us bring the SEAT range to a whole new audience.”
