An 84-year-old car enthusiast has been presented with an award from Snows BMW dealership in Portsmouth, for owning over 100 cars throughout his life.
George Kill (pictured, right) was collecting a brand-new BMW M2 from Snows BMW, when the dealership’s directors surprised him with a model of BMW’s Le Mans racing car, and £350 to spend on a day out with his family.
Since buying his first car, a Morris Oxford, in 1963, Kill has owned all types of cars: from Jensens to Mercedes-Benzes and Porsches.
Kill shared his passion for motoring with his late wife Ann, who passed away a few years ago, as the couple completed rallies, competed in autocross events, and rode motorcycles together.
Kill said: “It’s certainly been an interesting life! Both myself and Ann were always into cars and motorsport. From about the mid-1960s, we had two cars each.
“Between us, we have bought 115 new cars since 1963 – and most of the time, there were four in the household: one each that we were using for motor club competitions, and one for knocking about in.”
Since 1978, the couple bought 14 BMWs from Snows, with this new car being Kill’s second M2.
In addition to his high-performance BMW M2, Kill owns a Skoda Kodiaq, which he uses to take his dogs out, and for trips to the shop.
He also enjoys cycling, riding at least six miles each day.
Stephen Snow, CEO of Snows Motor Group, said: “It’s always a pleasure to welcome George to our BMW dealership in Portsmouth.
“He’s a highly valued customer and it’s great that he returns to us time and again, demonstrating confidence both in Snows as a dealer group and BMW as a manufacturer.”
