Volkswagen’s drivetrain development will be under the charge of Dr Heinz-Jakob Neusser (51) from 1 October 2011. He succeeds Dr Jens Hadler (45), who has elected to leave the company. Dr Rüdiger Szengel (56), who has been with Volkswagen since 1985, will take on the role of deputy head of Volkswagen drivetrain development and carry on with responsibility for petrol engine development.

Dr Neusser joined Porsche AG in 1996 after ten years working as a scientist and senior executive at FEV Motorentechnik. At Porsche AG Neusser, who has a doctorate in engineering from RWTH Aachen, headed up a variety of engine development projects before becoming head of engine design in 1998. Porsche made him ts head of drivetrain development in 2001.
