DEALERWEB has launched a new tool to help maintain social distancing in car showrooms.

The tool, which sits in the cloud-based Showroom lead management platform, allows the number of appointments to be limited by the time of day and number of salespeople available.

The system provides an alert when all time slots are full, halts further appointments from being made and offers the user a choice of the next available time.

The announcement comes following clarification from the government that dealers can complete orders online and deliver vehicles to the customers. Dealerweb argues that when dealerships reopen social distancing will have to be maintained for months to come.

Chief Executive Martin Hill said: “Our industry will put the safety of its customers, staff and local communities first as the lockdown ends and the nation gets back to work. Social distancing rules will likely remain in place for some time to come, and we hope our new tool will support dealers in operating within the guidelines.”

New data from Dealerweb shows that demand is returning to the market with a 40% increase in enquiries to its database of UK dealers for the week ending 3 May against the prior week.

The social distancing tool will be deployed on the Dealerweb Showroom platform in the next week and will be free to all users.
