Automotive industry charity Ben has announced that its 2026 Industry Leader Challenge (ILC) will take place on Iceland’s Langjökull ice cap.

The charity runs the challenge annually, taking senior leaders out of their comfort zones, raising money to provide support for people in the automotive industry.

It achieves this through a range of tailored support options, including a free online self-help programme, helping automotive industry workers manage health and wellbeing.

Participants in the ILC will battle temperatures as low as -25C, ski-trekking for nine hours a day, and camping in the wilderness.

Participants will compete in up to 12 teams of two, raising at least £25,000 for Ben in order to take part.

The challenge will take place from 18th March to 27th March 2026, with participants spending eight days on the ice cap, with no contact with the outside world.

Matt Wigginton, director of growth and development at Ben, said: “This may just be our most epic (and coolest) challenge yet!

“As with all ILC events, the main focus is on raising vital funds to support automotive industry people who are facing challenges that no-one should ever have to tackle alone.

“If you’re a leader in the automotive industry and you’ve ever been curious about what lies beyond your limits, this is your chance.

“The Glacier will be a challenge of endurance and personal growth, while raising money to support members of our automotive family who are struggling or in crisis.”

Teams from LKQ Euro Car Parts and Hella have already signed up, with the challenge set to be the third ICL that Spencer Grinham, sales director at Hella, has taken part in.

Past ILCs have seen competitors swim across the English Channel, climb Mount Kilimanjaro, and trek the Sahara Desert.

Wigginton said: “If you’re up for this once-in-a-lifetime challenge, then get in touch with me today!”
