Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles appoints new chairman of the board of management

Stefan Mecha will step into the role on 1st July 2025, leaving his role as executive CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, responsible for China.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has appointed a new chairman of the board of management, as current chairman Professor Carsten Intra retires.

Stefan Mecha will step into the role on 1st July 2025, leaving his role as executive CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, responsible for China.

Mecha has worked at the Volkswagen Group for over 15 years, having started as regional sales director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, responsible for Western Europe, in 2005; before becoming a management board member in 2016.

Outgoing chairman Carsten Intra was responsible for the launch of the ID. Buzz, the new Transporter, and has spearheaded the firm’s exploration of self-driving technology.
