Stellantis appoints Antonio Filosa as CEO

Stellantis new CEO Filosa

Stellantis has selected Antonio Filosa (pictured, right) as CEO, ending a five-month search.

Filosa is currently chief operating officer for the Americas, and has been with the company for over 25 years, joining in 1999.

Previously working across multiple Stellantis brands – such as Fiat, Ram, Jeep, and Peugeot – Filosa has been responsible for expanding Stellantis’ global reach.

While at Jeep, Filosa oversaw the opening of a factory in Brazil, expanding the brand’s presence to an emerging market with huge growth.

Robert Peugeot, vice chairman at Stellantis, said: “His track record of successful leadership during his many years with our Company speaks for itself and this, together with his deep knowledge of our business and of the complex dynamics facing our industry, make him the natural choice to become Stellantis’ next CEO.”

Filosa’s appointment ends a five-month search, following Carlos Tavares’ resignation in December.

Tavares resigned following a difficult period for the automaker, with slowing sales causing a profit warning to be issued last year.

Under Tavares, Stellantis replaced many of its successful vehicles with new electric models; sales of the electric Fiat 500 were so low that the factory was closed for four weeks late last year.

Filosa is expected to be elected to the board in the next few days, following a shareholder meeting, and will be granted CEO powers from 23rd June 2025.
