The boss of the garage trade body, the Independent Garage Association (IGA), who represent non-franchised garages, has reacted with delight to the news that independent garages topped their franchised rivals in the Spring 2017 edition of the National Franchised Dealers Association’s (NFDA) Consumer Attitude Survey.
The survey which we reported on last week in Motor Trade News, found that punters thought that independent garages offer the greatest level of satisfaction compared to franchised dealers and non-franchised national chains, particularly when it comes to MOT work, changing brakes and discs, replacing parts and in particular for their locality and convenience.
The top five reasons consumers chose an independent garage over other providers were given as location, trust, convenience, value for money and not getting ripped off
Talking about the findings of the survey, Stuart James, IGA Director said, “The independents will always score highly with customer satisfaction due to their personal involvement in the way customers are treated, and in recent years efforts to improve perceptions of the sector have been very successful.”
