South of England dealer group, Westover Group has confirmed that it will be sponsoring the 2017 Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride, a longstanding fundraiser in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event, which is expected to attract upwards of 800 riders, is on Sunday 2nd July 2017, setting off from Corfe Mullen Recreation Ground, following routes ranging from 10 to 100 miles.
Talking about the event, Mark Whittam, Head of Marketing at Westover Group said, “We’re delighted to have this opportunity to offer the Dorset Macmillan team some additional support. It’s a charity that our teams are always eager to help and, with a number of keen cyclists across the Group, we’re hoping we can also put in our own team of cyclists for the 2017 ride.”
The Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride, which has raised over £1 million over the years, was started in 1989 by Peter Smith-Nicholls, following the death of his father from cancer. Forty two people took part in the very first event, between them raising £2,500, next year’s event is hoping to raise over £80,000.
