Volvo Cars sees slight sales increase in February despite electrified model decline

Volvo Cars sold 50,662 vehicles globally in February, up 1% year-on-year, though sales of electrified models fell 3%.

Volvo Cars reported global sales of 50,662 vehicles in February, marking a 1% increase compared to the same period last year.

Sales of electrified models, including fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, declined by 3% year-on-year, accounting for 43% of total sales. Fully electric models represented 18% of total sales, while plug-in hybrids made up 24%.

The XC60 remained Volvo’s best-selling model with 17,658 units sold, up from 16,026 in February 2024. The XC40/EX40 followed with 11,763 sales, down from 13,193, while the XC90 recorded 7,607 sales, rising from 7,299 last year.

Year-to-date figures show a 2% decline in total sales, with 101,482 vehicles sold compared to 103,717 in the first two months of 2024. Sales of electrified models grew 6% year-on-year, driven by a 17% rise in plug-in hybrid sales, while fully electric vehicle sales declined 6%.

Mild hybrid and internal combustion engine (ICE) models saw a 4% increase in February but remain down 8% for the year to date.
