Two men have been charged in connection with a suspected car crime network involving stolen vehicles and dismantled parts worth more than £1m, following a major police investigation in the South East.

The arrests are linked to a suspected chop shop on Scragged Oak Lane in Detling, Kent, believed to have been used between September 2024 and May 2025 to dismantle parts from dozens of stolen vehicles.

Investigators are also connecting the Detling premises to an alleged distribution centre on Waterditch Road, Lenham, where police seized thousands of suspected stolen car parts during a search on 24th April.

Asad Mahmood, 25, of Northwood Gardens, Ilford, Essex, was arrested and charged on 21st May with conspiracy to receive stolen goods and handling stolen goods. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court the same day and was remanded in custody.

His alleged associate, Asif Iqbal-Kahn, 40, of Chester Road, Ilford, was charged earlier on 3rd May with conspiracy to receive stolen goods. He also faces charges of driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance, and using a false number plate. He too was remanded by Medway Magistrates’ Court.

Both men are due to appear before Maidstone Crown Court in separate hearings scheduled for June.
