Traffic commissioner to address fleet conference

Traffic commissioner for the north-east of England, Kevin Rooney, will be the guest speaker at the Freight Transport Association’s (FTA) Fleet Engineer conference takes in June.

He will be discussing commercial vehicle maintenance, the triennial review, how the revised guide to maintaining roadworthiness is being considered by the TCs, and experiences at public inquiries relating to maintenance issues.

FTA Fleet Engineer takes place on June 10 at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham.

Andy Mair, the FTA’s head of engineering, said: “FTA Fleet Engineer is intended for anyone with responsibility for specifying or maintaining commercial vehicles and ensuring compliance.
“The comprehensive programme is aimed at giving the very latest information in order to help fleet engineers deal with the many day-to-day challenges that they face.”

The conference sessions will include a Department for Transport update, a talk on vehicle safety aspects and development, urban commercial vehicle operation, EC Whole Vehicle Type Approval post implementation, commercial vehicle repair workshops, standards, competence and testing and enforcement from Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
