Renault has introduced a series of updates across its Captur and Symbioz SUV line-up for the 2026 model year, including the debut of a new full hybrid E-Tech 160 powertrain and the addition of a mild hybrid 140 petrol engine in the Symbioz range.

The new E-Tech 160 replaces the previous 145hp system and pairs a larger 1.8-litre petrol engine with an upgraded 1.4 kWh battery. Renault claims the powertrain improves performance and drivability, with acceleration to 62 mph now more than a second quicker. It also delivers a 5% improvement in fuel efficiency and emits just 97 g/km of CO2. Towing capacity increases to 1,000kg.

The powertrain also benefits from an updated intelligent multi-mode transmission, including a new motorway-specific mode for lower noise and improved response. Prices for the Captur full hybrid E-Tech 160 start at £25,195, with the Symbioz priced from £29,795.

Renault has also added a new entry-level mild hybrid 140 engine to the Symbioz line-up, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and available exclusively in techno trim. Producing 133 g/km of CO2 and achieving 47.9 mpg, it lowers the starting price for the Symbioz to £27,395.

Safety and tech upgrades have been rolled out across the Captur range, with an electric parking brake with auto-hold now standard on all trims. Mid-range techno trims and above also benefit from adaptive cruise control with a speed limiter for hybrid variants. The range-topping esprit Alpine trim includes lane centring, blind spot recognition, rear cross traffic alert, and other advanced features.

The 2026 Captur starts at £22,195 on the road for the evolution TCe90 model, while the top-spec Captur esprit Alpine full hybrid is priced at £28,795. Orders for the 2026 Captur and Symbioz models are now open.
