The RAC has added 14 agents to its team selling RAC branded warranty products to dealers, bringing its total sales force to 50 agents.

Over 800 applicants were considered during the recruitment drive to bring the new agents on board, with several being cherry picked from rival warranty providers.

Sean Kent, director, corporate and independent dealers at The Warranty Group, the RAC’s partner in the dealer sector, commented: “We are very much in a growth phase at the moment, being on target for a more than 30% increase in sales by volume this year. Also, the number of dealers in our network has risen to over 1,100 since January.

“The new agents have been recruited because we have even more ambitious plans for 2017, very much concentrating on the independent used car sector, where we believe there exists the most potential for growth.”

Needless to say the new agent recruitment has been concentrated in areas where the RAC currently has lower levels of dealer participation, including West Midlands, the North West, Scotland and Essex.

The RAC, in partnership with The Warranty Group, provides a range of products, including the RAC BuySure complete used car proposition, which Sean explained was now larger than many manufacturer’s used car programmes. “We are delivering benefits in two main areas. Firstly, these are very good products but, secondly, in a warranty sector with no household brand names, customers have a high level of trust in the RAC. They know that they would only attach their name to an offering that has a very high degree of credibility.”
