Dealer groups signed up to Chinese brand Omoda Jaecoo are celebrating with the manufacturer describing its arrival on the UK market as its most successful yet.
The group, which is a subsidiary of Chery, China’s largest automotive exporter, only launched into the UK in September 2024 with the Omoda badge, with Jaecoo following in January 2025. But according to latest figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders (SMMT) Omoda Jaecoo has already registered more than 2500 vehicles, which the brand says is its most successful launch by volume.
Over the past two years Britain has seen a wave of new Chinese brands launching onto the market, the UK regarded as an increasingly attractive destination for such brands in the face of increasing threats of tariffs from European and US lawmakers.
The new brands have undertaken aggressive dealer recruitment exercises and Omoda Jaecoo already has a 72-strong UK network, set to exceed 80 outlets by the end of the third quarter of 2025.
By the end of February Omoda had registered 1112 examples of its Omoda 5 C-SUV which is available in petrol-engined and electric form. The first Jaecoo model, the Jaecoo 7 SUV, launched at the end of January but already has just under 1500 registrations.
Omoda & Jaecoo UK director Victor Zhang believes the SMMT figures put the brand firmly on target to exceed its entire 2024 total of 3383 registrations, recorded between August and December, by the end of the first quarter of 2025. He puts this down to a strong team, a well-planted dealer and aftersales presence, plus a tailored set of vehicles compellingly priced for the private and fleet market.
“We will continue to expand our UK team, dealer network and work on market integration of our new vehicles for the rest of the year and beyond,” Zhang said, describing the success as the start of the brand’s ‘Value. Every. Thing.’ mentality.
Zhang also pointed to strong showings from large dealer groups that have taken Omoda and Jaecoo franchises, including Arnold Clark, Allen Motor Group, Desira, Listers, M53 Motors and RRG Group Ltd. Finance offers of 0% on the Omoda E5 have also proven a success.
Omoda’s growing network will be receiving three new models by the end of 2025, with the Omoda 9, Omoda 7 and Jaecoo 5 all going on sale.
