The Lloyd Motor Group was among the sponsors at Active Cumbria’s Cumbria Sports Awards this year.

The event, in its 32nd year, was hosted by Mike Zeller, presenter of BBC Radio Cumbria’s Breakfast Show.  The ceremony was attended by 260 guests at the Low Wood Bay Resort Hotel in Windermere.  The evening featured guest speaker Lutalo Muhammad, a Team GB and British Taekwondo athlete and the most successful male in British Taekwondo history.

Awards were made across 14 categories, with the winners decided by a panel of expert judges following nominations from the Cumbrian public. Lloyd Motor Group was proud to sponsor the Community Club of the Year award. The winners of this category were Kendal Cycle Club. The club has grown from nothing to over 300 members in 12 months.

Richard Johnston, Chair of the Cumbria Sports Awards Organising Committee commented: “The Awards were a superb event and an excellent opportunity to celebrate the enormous effort and talents of the sporting stars of Cumbria. The support of the media, and our awards sponsors continue to make these awards a massive success, acknowledging the quality of our major sports performers and our emerging talent, as well as recognising the very important role played by the army of volunteers and coaches in Cumbria”.
