Kia UK has reported its best-ever half-year performance, with 62,005 new vehicle registrations between January and June, securing its position as the UK’s third best-selling car brand so far this year.

The result marked a series of milestones for the brand, with record registrations in January, March, Q1, Q2 and H1, and comes as electrified vehicles play a growing role in Kia’s success.

Across the first six months of 2025, 31,643 electrified models – encompassing electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid vehicles (excluding mild hybrids) – were registered, accounting for more than half of all Kia sales and reflecting a 7% year-on-year increase.

Kia’s performance was led by the Sportage, with 23,012 registrations.

The EV3 also continued its strong launch, registering 6,293 units in H1 to become the UK’s most popular retail EV.

The Picanto contributed significantly too, achieving a 35% increase year-on-year with 7,607 units registered.

January delivered 10,813 registrations, its strongest ever start, and gave Kia a 7.8% market share – placing it second overall across both retail and fleet for the month.

The Sportage topped national sales in January, while the EV3 debuted as the UK’s best-selling retail EV.

In February, Kia became the number one eco car brand in the UK, maintaining strong registrations across core models, including the Picanto (best-selling A-segment model) and the Ceed (third in the C-segment).

Kia’s March performance broke all previous records, registering 19,993 units – the brand’s highest ever monthly total in the UK.

This contributed to a Q1 total of 35,063 units and a 6.0% market share, with record levels of electrified vehicle registrations.

The EV3 continued to attract attention, winning the 2025 UK Car of the Year in March and the World Car of the Year in April – mirroring the EV9’s double win in 2024.

Kia also showcased the PV5 purpose-built vehicle (PBV) at the Commercial Vehicle Show in April and topped the NFDA Dealer Attitude Survey for the fifth consecutive time.

Strong sales continued in April and May, with Kia maintaining its third-place position year-to-date. The EV3 remained the top retail EV, while the Sportage continued to be the best-selling car in the UK.

Kia ended June with 10,043 registrations and a 5.2% market share, making it the fourth best-selling brand for the month.

The EV3’s rapid uptake contributed to Kia’s best-ever June and Q2 for EV registrations, alongside a new Q2 eco car record.

June also marked a milestone for the Sportage, which surpassed 450,000 lifetime UK registrations ahead of the release of its updated model.
