Kia has introduced a new driver scoring feature in partnership with LexisNexis Risk Solutions, available through its recently launched Kia App.
The tool uses LexisNexis Drive Metrics to provide drivers with a risk-based score and feedback on their driving behaviour.
The score, based on factors such as speeding, braking, acceleration and time of day, is intended to help users understand and improve their driving. With consent, drivers can also share their score with insurers to support personalised policy pricing.
Olivier Pascal, head of connected cars at Kia Connect, said: “Connected services are reshaping the driver experience, and having a data-based driver score is a significant step towards safer driving and more personalised mobility.
“We are empowering our customers with real-time driving insights while supporting the insurance industry with meaningful, privacy-conscious data, enabling insurance providers to deliver tailored solutions like never before.”
The new app combines multiple existing Kia platforms into a single interface and includes the option to view scores and receive driving tips.
James Burton, managing director, Europe and UK insurance, LexisNexis Risk Solutions, said: “We are pleased to collaborate with Kia Europe on this important endeavour to help Kia owners proactively lower their cost of vehicle ownership.
“Leveraging a scoring service that utilises our Drive Metrics model, automakers are better positioned to support their owners and insurers with more accurate segmentation based on actual driving risks and enable more personalised pricing of policy premiums.”
The feature is now available to Kia drivers in the UK and across the EU.
