New figures from MyCarNeedsA.com suggest that there has been a surge in motorists going online to source the best deals for aftersales work.
Over the last 12 months, MyCarNeedsA.com has seen an 84% increase in servicing and MOT jobs, with a greater take up of maintenance work, such as brakes, timing belts and tyres.Data from the online comparison site also confirms a 76% increase in unique visitors, year on year.
Scott Hamilton, Managing Director of MyCarNeedsA.com comments: “More and more consumers are using websites like ours to save time, money and hassle when booking their cars in for maintenance and repair, whether it’s brakes, bulbs, clutches, cambelts or regular servicing.“It is estimated that motorists spend a collective £21.1 billion a year on servicing and repair and the online comparison market is growing rapidly. There is a huge opportunity for MOT and servicing providers to boost their income by extending their reach online, by partnering with us. Recent research from gmbh, Trend Tracker’s partner in Germany shows that 60-70% of the motorists they surveyed expect to use an online comparison site for car repairs in the near future.
“The aftersales market is extremely competitive, with more than 42,500 vehicle service and repair locations of all types. Consumers are spoilt for choice – but sometimes it is difficult to choose between quality and cost. We provide the opportunity for consumers to compare quotes from pre-checked businesses, without unnecessary phone calls and their contact details are only shared when they choose a business to carry out the work.
Scott Hamilton concluded: “Today, many more reliable vehicles are on the road with longer service intervals. Combined with industry developments, such as condition based servicing, the market for repairs is being squeezed, as more businesses compete for reducing opportunities. The good news is that the total number of routine services have been increasing, in line with the recent surge in new car sales, according to Trend Tracker.”
