Arnold Clark staff have raised £170,079 through this year’s Kiltwalk events, benefiting 49 charities across Scotland.

The total was achieved by agreements to top up the funds raised by Arnold Clark staff. The employees walked a total of 2,937 miles at the Kiltwalk events between April and September this year. The Arnold Clark group doubled the amount fundraised by every employee, which was then topped up 40% by Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation.

Eddie Hawthorne, Chief Executive and Group Managing Director of Arnold Clark commented, ‘I’m incredibly proud of all 147 of our staff walkers, who have raised a phenomenal total for causes close to their hearts at the Kiltwalk events this year. As a company, we are delighted to be able to match donations for our employees and support the Kiltwalk organisation.

‘The £170,079 forms part of the overall £2.4 million that all walkers have raised this year, and this will undoubtedly transform the lives of many for the better. We are really looking forward to the 2018 events and continuing our partnership with the Kiltwalk.’

The group held an event at its HQ in Glasgow celebrate the achievement with representatives from the Beatson Cancer Charity, Glasgow Children’s Hospital and The Haven Centre.

Paul Cooney, CEO of the Kiltwalk said: ‘A huge part of the success of Kiltwalk is down to the unrivalled support and commitment of the directors, management and staff of Arnold Clark. On behalf of Sir Tom Hunter, the trustees and everyone at Kiltwalk along with the 780 charities that benefitted in 2017, we say a massive thank you for this enormous fundraising total, every penny of which goes to the great charities chosen by the Arnold Clark teams who walked for what they care about.’
