Cheshire-based automotive retail group Swansway has opened the doors to its first two BYD outlets following a new partnership with the Chinese brand announced in April.
The two new centres have been established on Beswick Drive, Crewe and on Bumpers Lane, Chester, both outlets sitting alongside the group’s used car supermarket Motor Match.
With BYD having just marked its first year on the UK market, Swansway Motor Group Directors are eager to see what this new partnership will bring for the group and its customers. The brand already has three electric models on sale, having launched in the UK with the Atto 3 SUV. Since then the Dolphin, a mid-sized hatchback and the upmarket-pitched Seal saloon have also arrived in showrooms and the brand is promising more new models in the near future.
All BYD vehicles will be built on the company’s new e-Platform 3.0 chassis, a modular electric platform that allows for front, rear, and four-wheel drive configurations. All use the brand’s innovative cobalt-free Blade Battery pack, BYD being one of the largest manufacturers of batteries in the world.
Swansway Motor Group currently has 21 retailers across the Midlands, North West, and North Wales representing nine brands, as well as five Motor Match dealerships, and the Crewe-based Accident Repair Centre and Fleet Division. BYD plans to establish a UK retail network of 100 dealerships by the end of 2025 but with a limited number of partners covering strategic areas.
Sam Booth, BYD Crewe Head of Business at Sam booth was delighted to finally be able to start trading. “It’s an interesting time for electric vehicles and we are pleased to be bringing another offering to those in the local area,” he said.
