Rocketeer secures new investment to accelerate expansion and launch lightweight Keiryō model
Specialist sports car manufacturer Rocketeer has completed a successful funding round to develop new models, expand internationally, and meet rising demand for its hand-built MXV6 RestoBuild cars.
Rocketeer Cars, the Hampshire-based manufacturer of the hand-built Rocketeer MXV6 RestoBuild sports car, has completed a new funding round that brings a group of private investors and advisors into the business.
The investment will support product development, new vehicle launches and international expansion, particularly into the US market.
The new backers include collectors and supercar owners who share Rocketeer’s belief in the enduring appeal of analogue driving experiences. Their investment reflects the business’s momentum, with more than 30 Turnkey and RestoBuild cars delivered to date and over 150 self-build kits supplied across Europe and the US.
Rocketeer’s MXV6 is a high-performance reinterpretation of the Mazda MX-5, blending modern V6 power and materials with the character of the original NA and NB platforms. Delivering 280hp in standard form, the hand-built model aims to counter the trend toward increasingly inert modern supercars, providing a raw and engaging driving experience.
The funding will accelerate the launch of two new products. First is the Rocketeer Keiryō – meaning “lightweight” in Japanese – developed to meet a customer brief for maximum power-to-weight performance. With a targeted kerb weight of 850kg and 375hp from the company’s naturally aspirated 3.0-litre V6, the Keiryō will match the 441hp-per-tonne ratio of a Ferrari F40. The first example is due for delivery mid-2025, with orders already being taken.
Rocketeer is also finalising development of an MXV6 conversion for the Mk3 (NC) generation of the MX-5, with standard outputs already exceeding 300hp in dynamometer testing. Deliveries are expected to begin later this year, and demand is projected to be high given the NC’s broader market presence.
The new investment also enables Rocketeer to grow its network of build partners. Existing partnerships are in place in Germany, the Netherlands and Australia, and Rocketeer now plans to deliver Turnkey and RestoBuild cars to the US – a key market given sustained interest from American customers.
Rocketeer MXV6 cars are available in three formats: bespoke RestoBuild commissions, factory Turnkey builds featuring Rocketeer’s engineered 3.0-litre V6, and a detailed self-build kit.
