Electric vehicle (EV) battery testing firm ClearWatt will offer EVA England members access to its battery testing tools, helping boost confidence in used EVs.
ClearWatt’s proprietary EV Health Test allows businesses and consumers to test EV batteries with just a mobile app, collecting data from the vehicle, and combining it with 50 additional data points.
The app delivers a report that evaluates real-world range, predicts charging costs, and shows tax information, as well as the impact of different wheel sizes on range.
Dr Vicky Edmonds, CEO at EVA England, said: “We hear time and again from drivers that battery uncertainty is one of the biggest barriers to buying a used EV.
“Our partnership with ClearWatt will help tackle that head-on, giving consumers the information they need to make confident, informed decisions.
“Their transparent, data-led approach is exactly what the market needs, and we’re proud to be working alongside them to help give drivers greater confidence in second-hand EVs.”
In 2024, the number of used EVs acquired by businesses and consumers increased by 57.4%.
EVs have traditionally suffered from volatile resale values, with buyers often nervous about battery longevity when considering a used vehicle.
Until the end of July, ClearWatt is offering EVA England members 50% off all of its products, including the EV Health Test.
Patrick Cresswell, managing director of ClearWatt, said: “We’re proud to be joining EVA England as a partner.
“They are a powerful voice for EV drivers across key stakeholders including central government, and we share the same mission: to make electric vehicle ownership simpler, smarter, and more transparent.
“Battery health and uncertainty about EV performance remain some of the most important – and misunderstood – factors in used EV buying.
“By working together, we can give drivers the clarity and confidence they need to make better decisions and accelerate the shift to electric.”
