Hyundai Tucson named best family holiday car by UK parents
The Hyundai Tucson has been ranked the top car for family holidays, with new research highlighting what parents look for in a practical getaway vehicle.
The Hyundai Tucson has been named the best car for family holidays by CarGurus, following a survey of 2,000 UK parents on their motoring preferences for domestic and overseas trips.
Reliability, fuel efficiency and boot space were rated as the top three priorities when choosing a vehicle for family breaks, with 52% of respondents identifying both reliability and fuel efficiency as key, followed closely by boot space at 51%.
Chris Knapman, editorial director for CarGurus UK, said: “Family holidays often mean long hours on the road, packed boots, and keeping everyone comfortable. With this in mind, the Hyundai Tucson stood out as a clear winner – it’s extremely practical, efficient, and many examples on the used market will still be covered by Hyundai’s generous five-year, unlimited mileage warranty. Not only that, but the Tucson is a quiet and comfortable car to drive, making it ideal for covering long distances. That combination is perfect for families planning to holiday in the UK or travel further afield.”
Petrol was the preferred fuel type for family holidays, with just 6% of parents favouring electric vehicles. On average, families were prepared to spend £21,000 on a holiday car, with 22% setting a budget between £15,000 and £24,999. The Tucson was highlighted for its boot capacity of up to 620 litres and fuel economy of 38–46mpg, depending on the powertrain.
CarGurus has also recommended a range of other vehicles across different budgets, including the Suzuki S-Cross, Toyota RAV4 and Skoda Kodiaq. Additional must-have features cited by parents included climate control, built-in navigation, rear legroom and safety features such as lane departure and collision warnings.
