Audi is expanding its Q5 line-up with the introduction of new plug-in hybrid models, which are now confirmed for the UK market.

The Q5 SUV e-hybrid quattro and Q5 Sportback e-hybrid quattro will be available to order from July 2025, with prices starting from £56,740 and £59,240 respectively.

Both versions of the Q5 plug-in hybrid are powered by a 2.0 TFSI engine paired with an electric motor, producing a combined output of 299PS (220kW) and a peak torque of 450Nm. This enables acceleration from 0-62mph in 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 155mph. Audi said the electric range has been significantly improved, with the new models offering up to 62 miles thanks to a redesigned 25.9kWh high-voltage battery.

A spokesperson for Audi said: “The new Q5 family marks the next chapter in the success story of our premium SUV in the mid-size class.” The upgraded battery is arranged in a two-level layout at the rear of the vehicle and offers approximately 45% more capacity than the previous generation. AC charging speed has also been increased, with a full charge taking 2.5 hours at up to 11kW.

The Q5 PHEVs support two driving modes: EV and hybrid. In EV mode, the vehicle runs solely on electric power up to 87mph. Hybrid mode allows drivers to manage battery charge levels manually for optimal efficiency, especially useful in urban areas. The hybrid assistant uses route data to automatically select the most efficient mode depending on driving conditions.

Standard equipment includes S sport suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and rear lights, and the MMI experience plus infotainment system with Audi’s Application Store. The interior features a fully adjustable rear seat bench, a cooled inductive charging tray, and multiple USB-C ports capable of powering laptops.

Audi said: “Like the combustion-engine models, the Audi Q5 e-hybrid models have also significantly improved key attributes and offer a comfortable feeling of space – something that people notice right from the moment they get into the car.” Boot space is 438 litres for the SUV and 433 litres for the Sportback, rising to 1,358 and 1,300 litres respectively with the rear seats folded.
