The RAC has signalled that it expects to report sales of used cars and vans, through its Dealer Network, up 12% in 2017, when compared to 2016.

RAC sales director, Sean Kent, commented, “We have undertaken several initiatives such as the launch of a new marketing platform and new warranty products, and these have helped us to accelerate sales. It’s been another very pleasing year for us.”

During 2017 the number of affiliated dealer will have increased by 80-90 sites, bringing the total to almost 1,300. Sean added, “We continue to recruit dealers to the network, albeit at a very deliberate pace to ensure that we only work with those that meet a level of commitment to customer service that is commensurate with the RAC brand. We will continue to add more but certainly not at the expense of quality.”

Looking to 2018, Sean concluded, “It is quite difficult to know what next year will bring in the used car and van sectors but our research shows that the brand plays a crucial role in bringing buyers into our dealers. At a point in time when they are likely to be looking for reassurance, that confidence will be crucial to the network’s ongoing success.”
