Motor trade commercial property specialist Martin Wilson of MTBN has described market activity as a quiet start to 2017 with just 11 reported acquisitions compared to a very busy first quarter last year when there were 25.

Talking about what he has seen in the market, Wilson says, “As predicted at the beginning of the year overseas owned Dealer Groups have come to the fore with the acquisition of CarShop by Sytner Group, Essex Auto Group by Allen Ford and also Carrs BMW by Jardines. This trend looks set to continue and whilst the UK Groups are unlikely to remain quiet for too much longer the impact on the market of the very significant investments being made to meet the Jaguar Land Rover standards should not be underestimated.“
