Calum Rae, a second-year apprentice technician at Vertu Dunfermline Hyundai, has been awarded Apprentice of the Year at the 2024–25 Vertu Masters Awards, an annual programme celebrating the Group’s top-performing non-management staff.

Now in their fourteenth year, the Vertu Masters Awards drew more than 7,800 entrants from across the business. Rae was recognised for his strong work ethic, advanced technical skills, and ability to take on complex tasks that are typically handled by more experienced colleagues.

Despite only being in his second year, Rae is already working on gearboxes and engines, and regularly assists Master Technicians at the dealership. His proactive attitude and readiness to learn beyond his training schedule have made him a valued team member.

Paul Lunan, general manager at Vertu Dunfermline Hyundai, said: “Calum’s technical ability and professionalism are remarkable for someone at this early stage of their career. He consistently steps up to challenging tasks and shows a maturity beyond his years. He’s a key part of the team, and his future in the industry looks incredibly promising.”

Robert Forrester, chief executive of Vertu, added: “Calum is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through hard work and dedication. His performance sets a benchmark for apprentices across the Group, and we are thrilled to recognise his outstanding contribution with this well-deserved award.”

Rae said: “I love working at Vertu and am passionate about learning as much as I can. My colleagues are really supportive and I’m thrilled to win this award.”

As part of the award, Rae received a Vertu Masters Trophy, a £1,000 tax-free bonus, a bottle of champagne, and a Vertu-branded goodie bag.
