The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) has praised the MOT testing sector for being ahead of schedule in completing the 2025 MOT Annual Assessment, but has warned that nearly 11,000 technicians still need to complete it before the 1st April deadline.
According to the IMI, more testers have passed the assessment at this stage compared with the same point in 2024. However, it warned that those yet to complete the process must act now or face suspension from testing duties and possible loss of income.
The IMI is encouraging technicians to use its tailored e-Learning packages, which include 3-hour modules that can be completed in flexible, bite-sized sessions. The assessment allows two attempts to reach the DVSA’s required 80% pass mark.
To support technicians further, the IMI offers a dedicated digital MOT Useful Resources page, where testers can redeem codes, print certificates, and upload their assessments to the MOT Testing Service system.
On successful completion of the IMI MOT Training and Assessment, technicians can opt in for complimentary IMI membership. This provides access to learning resources, tools, and the wider IMI community to support ongoing professional development.
