Car brand Smart is taking what can only be described as baby steps towards moving it’s car sales process online, with a move to allow customers to pay a £250 deposit, fill in a credit application and reserve one of a number of pre-configured models.

Patient punters will then wait up to 48 hours to have their credit application reviewed, after which they will be guided through the buying process and all being well, in something over 12 days they’ll be able to either collect their new car from a dealer or have it delivered.

The models that can be ordered via the www.smartcarsonline.co.uk website are based on the prime model line and can be had with black or white panels and a black tridion cell. Customers have a choice of three different payment packages with payments from £119 a month.

Talking about the new service, Krishan Bodhani, head of Smart in the UK, said, “Almost anything can be bought online now and we’re delighted to offer this option to our customers when purchasing their Smart. It’s really easy to do and is extremely time-efficient, enabling a customer to make a reservation, fill in a credit application and sign a contract at a time and place that works for them.”
