Expanding Berkshire based dealer group, Eden Motor Group have acquired the Fleet Autoway vehicle servicing business on Reading Road South in Fleet, Hampshire, from A.E. Kendrick (Garages) Ltd for an undisclosed sum as it moves to create a prestige multi brand used car operation, Eden Prestige & Performance.
The group revealed to Motor Trade News that it plans to spend around £200,000 overhauling the one time Honda dealership’s showroom facilities and recruiting an additional 8 staff, taking the head count to 20, in order to make Fleet the location for the group’s first “Eden Prestige & Performance” branded high end used car dealership.
Speaking to Motor Trade News, Eden Motor Group CEO Graeme Potts said, “We’ll be selling specialist brand vehicles that are exceptionally low mileage or exceptionally high specification, generally two to five years old. We decided to launch it as a separate business in what is a very strong location for the markets of the home-counties and the south coast, which also happens to be the epicentre of our business as well.”
“The showroom of this facility had been de-commissioned and we are going to commence the re-establishment of the showroom and refurbish it to a very high contemporary style standard. We are purchasing stock with a view to the establishment of this business currently and are going to be selling at the high performance end, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Land Rover, Porsche and Bentley.”
Potts told Motor Trade News that the new business, which is set to open in the last week of November, will be run by the highly experienced Lee Taylor who currently heads up three of the Eden Vauxhall businesses. Taylor is in the process of recruiting to fill the 8 new front of house positions which has created considerable excitement within the expanding group.
