MG has announced it will open a multi-million pound dealership in London’s Piccadilly.

The planned showroom, will be situated next to The Royal Academy of Arts and directly opposite Fortnum & Mason. MG has considered a flagship store in London as a vital part of its network strategy which targets 30 open points in 2015.

The Piccadilly site will add to the 26 new dealerships in Britain that the brand has added in the past 12 months. MG views the flagship showroom as a means of making a firm statement of commitment to the UK market.

The development of the Piccadilly store has involved a £30m investment, covering a refurbishment and substantial upgraded to at the  seven-storey Georgian-fronted building at 47/48 Piccadilly.  The result is promised to be a state of the art six-car showroom with interactive media centre. In its statement the company confirmed that the showroom will open “in a few weeks time.”

Matthew Cheyne, Head of Marketing, said: “This really is a fabulous central London location where the City of Westminster and the West End theatreland merge. It shows that MG is really back and is becoming a major force again in the British automotive industry.

“This address is, without a doubt, one of the most sought-after international locations and we can’t wait to do business from there.  If anyone had any doubts about MG’s commitment to the future, this is a hugely positive statement that MG is back and here to stay.
