Growing motor retail group Spire Automotive which owns Finchley Road Audi, Hatfield Audi, Watford Audi and Whetstone Audi, M25 Audi as well as Peugeot, SEAT and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle franchises in the north London area, has acquired the Scotthall BMW Mini business from Jardine Motors for an undisclosed sum.
The deal which takes the Spire Automotive group from 7 to 12 sites will catapult the business into the ranks of the top 25 motor retail groups in the UK.
The deal which is said to have been engineered by Jardine CEO Mark Herbert and Spire Automotive's Managing Director Darren Guiver was described by staff within Spire as very exciting news and a good fit, with sources on both sides saying they are pleased with the takeover.
Jardine Motors is one of the United Kingdom's largest independent dealership groups with a portfolio of specialist franchises including Aston Martin, Audi and Volkswagen, BMW, Jaguar and Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.
Spire Automotive was founded in 2006 following a management buyout of three Audi centres from former owners HR Owen plc and is jointly owned by managing director Darren Guiver and Finance Director Kim Richardson.
