As part of the marketing run-up to the launch of the new McLaren MP4-12C supercar later this year, Swiss watch maker and long time McLaren F1 sponsor partner, TAG Heuer, is releasing a 1,000 piece limited edition watch called the TAG Heuer MP4-12C Chronograph.

The exclusive watch echoes the design of the new 12C car with a carbon dial inspired by the 12C’s carbon fibre mono cell chassis. Hour markers are in McLaren’s traditional super luminescent orange, with the watch’s chronograph movement visible through sapphire inserts on the dial. A flyback function allows the chronograph to be reset to zero, and immediately restarted by pressing only once on the push button. Like parts of the £200,000 car, the watch's case is made from light weight titanium and the choice of alcantara leather for the strap was also inspired by the 12C’s interior materials.

Talking about the brand tie-up, that even puts a McLaren logo on the watch’s crown, McLaren Automotive’s Design Director, Frank Stephenson, said, “I love watches and have always wanted to design one myself. The TAG Heuer MP4-12C Chronograph was a particularly interesting project as we have combined our passion for precision technology, engineering and performance and included some of the most outstanding design features and materials that can be found in the MP4-12C.”
